Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy
Internal Family Systems (IFS) a powerful and transformative approach to healing emotional wounds, improving self-awareness, and nurturing inner harmony.
IFS is a compassionate, evidence-based therapy, developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, that helps individuals explore and understand the different “parts” of themselves. We all have internal dialogues, competing thoughts, emotions, or reactions that sometimes feel overwhelming, controlling or conflicting. Some parts may carry pain from the past, while others act as protectors—sometimes in ways that lead to stress, self-doubt, or emotional distress. IFS helps you develop a relationship with these inner parts, with the goal of strengthening the “core self”, building trust with ‘protectors” and reconnecting or integrating our exiled parts.
At its core, IFS therapy helps you:
Identify and understand the different parts of yourself that influence your emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and relationships.
Heal wounded parts that may be stuck in past traumas or difficult experiences.
Strengthen your core Self, the calm, compassionate, and wise center that can bring stability to your inner world.
Reduce emotional distress related to anxiety, depression, trauma, and self-doubt.
How IFS Works in Individual Therapy
• In a safe and supportive environment, I will guide you through the IFS process, helping you:
• Recognize and connect with different parts of yourself—especially those that carry pain, fear, or self-criticism.
• Develop self-compassion and curiosity rather than judgment toward these parts.
• Release emotional burdens and shift toward a sense of balance and wholeness.
IFS therapy is highly effective for individuals struggling with:
• Trauma & PTSD
• Anxiety & Depression
• Self-Criticism & Perfectionism
• Relationship Challenges
• Stress & Emotional Overwhelm
Identity & Self-Exploration
